A woman accused of driving drunk and killing a new bride on her wedding night is making plans for her own marriage while in jail, the New York Post reports.
Jamie Lee Komoroski is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center in South Carolina as she awaits trial on charges that include reckless homicide resulting in death.
Authorities allege the 26-year-old Komoroski was drunk on April 28, 2023, when she drove her Toyota Camry into a golf cart that held 34-year-old Samantha Miller and her new husband, 36-year-old Aric Hutchinson.
The crash occurred in Folly Beach, about 10 miles south of Charleston.
The Post obtained audio of a recent call between Komoroski and her father in which she talked about her hope to get married.
“I want you to be at my wedding,” Komoroski said in the call to her dad, Charles, according to the Post, which obtained the recording from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Komoroski continued: “I want you to walk me down the aisle. I want you to be with me. I want to go on walks with you.”
In a December call with boyfriend Evan Tatro, Komoroski also said she looked forward to the day when they can physically embrace.
“I can’t wait to get a hug from you, oh my gosh, you had just better wear a rain jacket,” Komoroski told Tatro, apparently about her expectation of crying when they see each other, according to the Post.
Authorities allege that Komoroski was speeding and highly intoxicated – her blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit – when she struck the back of the golf cart. Hutchinson and two other people in the cart were injured.
Hutchinson reached undisclosed settlements with two bars that were accused of overserving alcohol to Komoroski on the night of the crash, according to CBS News.
Komoroski faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
