Singer Britney Spears reportedly had pills on her, obtained in Mexico, during a DUI stop earlier this week.
According to TMZ, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers found Spears with Adderall during tbe DUI arrest Wednesday night in Ventura County.
Sources told the outlet that the pills will be tested to determine if they are “pure Adderall,” or if they contain other drugs, such as fentanyl and cocaine.
Should the pills contain illegal narcotics, Spears could possibly face jail time, despite this being the first time she’s been arrested for DUI.
CHP told TMZ that the pills were not found in the vehicle, but sources reportedly said they were found in her possession.
Some experts, including legal analyst Donna Rotunno, don’t believe Spears will serve time.
“I think the fact that she’s clearly in a state of mental decline,” Rotunno told FOX News.
“I think we’re looking at someone with issues, with substance abuse. I don’t think given this, that she will face any jail time.”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, authorities released Spears on “cite & release” on Thursday morning.
Sources told TMZ that Spears’ blood alcohol level registered at .06.
A CHP officer stated that the arrest stemmed from a combination of both “alcohol and drugs,” NBC News reports. She had allegedly been driving erratically when they pulled her over in the Westside Village area.
“Chemical tests are still pending,” the officer said.
Her court date is scheduled for March 4 at the Ventura County Superior Court, according to CBS 10.
