Almost a year after filing to legally end their marriage, The Valley‘s Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor are still not divorced — and she is blaming her ex for the delay.Â
The topic arose on Part 1 of The Valley Season 2 reunion when Andy Cohen asked Brittany and Jax about the status of their divorce during the reunion
“Hopefully it’s happening soon,” Brittany replied, before revealing, “[Jax] called me the other day and said that he didn’t know if he was gonna get kicked off the show, so he was prolonging it in case he needed to get alimony from me.”
Jax, who has since announced his departure from The Valley, confessed, “That’s somewhat true.”
In an unseen moment from Peacock’s extended and uncensored version of the episode, the two had more to say on the subject,.Â
After Jax clarified that he was “prolonging it because of the podcast,” not the Bravo series, Brittany fired back, “That’s not what you said.”
“That’s verbatim what you said to me,” she added. “Don’t act like you didn’t say that to me.”
When her estranged husband stated that they could just “agree” with her version of events and move on, Brittany turned to Kristen Doute to point out that she was “already shaking.”

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor share an update on custody and co-parenting son Cruz
Emphasizing that their “divorce is not final yet,” Brittany shared that she currently has “full custody” of their 4-year-old son, Cruz.
“But whenever the divorce is final, I’m going to allow him to have him every Wednesday and every other weekend,” she added. “And then, like, if I need to go get my nails done or something like that, like, he can watch him, I’m not gonna ever not let him have his son.”

Explaining that he agrees with the arrangement, Jax further confirmed that Cruz has now spent time at his new townhouse.
“She allows me to see him now,” he elaborated. “It took some time, which I totally understand. … I don’t want to uproot my son from his house.”
The latter part of his statement got Brittany fired up, though, as she brought up having to move between Airbnb rentals amid Cruz’s autism diagnosis because Jax insisted on remaining in their marital home, post-split.Â
“Knowing that he needs stability … your ego was so big that you made me and Cruz move out,” she said. “And then you didn’t pay the mortgage for seven months.”
Jax, meanwhile, admitted that, not only did he not pay their mortgage, but he skipped his car note payments as well: “I didn’t pay anything. I just let it all go, and I was like, ‘I’m done.'”Â
When will Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s divorce be finalized?
After filming the Season 2 reunion, Jax revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen‘s June 17 episode that “the plan” was for him and Brittany to finalize their divorce on July 21, 2025.
When Brittany appeared on WWHL one day past that date on July 22, however, she updated viewers that they “unfortunately” were still not divorced because they both “didn’t send in all of [their] stuff at the right time.”
As she added, though, “October 15 is the new date — and it’s gonna happen.”
Brittany also shared an update on where she stands with Jax now, describing their current relationship as “horrible” with “no trust whatsoever.”
