Brittany Cartwright is setting the record straight on her rumored new beau, Brandon Hanson.
“We’re not technically boyfriend and girlfriend just yet,” The Valley cast member told TMZ on Sept. 9. “He’s a great person, great father, just all-around a good person. He’s making me happy. We’re just focused on having fun and doing our thing right now. I really like him.”
Brittany shared a similar sentiment in a same-day interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Ever single time somebody catches me with a new guy, he’s my boyfriend instantly — [but] I’m not in a relationship yet,” she clarified. “I am dating, and he’s a great guy. So, we’ll see where he goes.”

How did Brittany Cartwright and Brandon Hanson meet?
Brittany recently revealed that she and Brandon have quite the history. “We’ve known each other for 15 years,” she said. “I met him back in Kentucky. Long time ago.”
However, it wasn’t until August 2025 that Brittany teased she had “a new man,” aka Brandon.

Brittany officially filed for divorce in August 2024, and a little over one year later, she teased her and Brandon’s romance on her podcast. What’s more, Brittany’s BFF Kristen told People, “She has someone in her life that’s really amazing that I am head over heels for. She’s dated people during her single years since her ex-husband, and I have not approved of them. They’ve been fine, but not wonderful. This person is very wonderful and very cool. Very family-feeling.”
Since then, Brittany and Brandon have traveled to Mexico, where they were spotted embracing one another on the beach.

Where do Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor stand today?
Brittany told TMZ in the recent interview that there have been “lots of ups and downs and back and forth” when it comes to coparenting her and Jax’s only child. “But, hopefully, it will get better one day.”
Brittany and her “happy boy” Cruz currently live in her and Jax’s former marital home in the San Fernando Valley after moving between multiple rental homes immediately following their separation. Jax, meanwhile, now lives in a NoHo townhouse next door to VPR cast mate and long-time friend, Tom Schwartz.
On The Valley’s Season 2 reunion, Brittany updated audiences with where she and Jax stood as far as their custody arrangement: “Whenever the divorce is final, I’m going to allow [Jax] to have [Cruz] every Wednesday and every other weekend. And then, like, if I need to go get my nails done or something like that, like, he can watch him, I’m not gonna ever not let him have his son.”
Jax, who announced his exit from the series before the reunion, added, “[Brittany] allows me to see him now. It took some time, which I totally understand. … I don’t want to uproot my son from his house.”
