A conversation about Jax Taylor’s sobriety on The Valley‘s Season 2 reunion pivoted to Brittany Cartwright addressing her own alleged past drug use in a previously unseen moment.
After Jax confessed to using illicit substances while filming Vanderpump Rules years ago, on Peacock’s extended version of the conversation, host Andy Cohen asked Brittany “how much partying” they did together and if her ex “introduced” her to cocaine.
“I had never even seen it before, and I was very open and honest about that,” Brittany answered. “I’m not saying that I have never tried it, but give me a drug test right now and I’ll pass.”
Clarifying that she experimented “far before” 4-year-old son Cruz “was even in the picture,” Brittany continued, “And I hate it because now … there’s this narrative out there, like I’m a coke head or something.”
She further emphasized that she did “not like” the drug, adding, “I don’t even smoke weed.”

After the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host reminded her of an earlier comment she made about being “done protecting Jax,” Brittany confirmed that she had helped her estranged husband hide his drug use during their decade-long marriage.
“I never turned on him; I always protected him,” she elaborated. “I was constantly having to apologize for his mistakes, even if I had nothing to do with them. … The stupidest things that I had nothing to do with, it all of a sudden was always my responsibility because I was his wife.”
Jax Taylor details his sobriety journey
Elsewhere on the second installment of The Valley‘s Season 2 reunion, Jax shared that, as of the sitdown’s May 2, taping, he was exactly 156 days sober. He credited a therapist, sober coach, life coach, AA meetings, and even Brittany with helping to hold him “accountable” on his journey.
As he told his estranged wife, “In my head, if I ever try to slip again, I know that you’re going to [drug] test me anytime you want. And I want you to test me anytime you want, not only for you, but for me. Because I don’t want to touch drugs and alcohol again. It’s f–ked up my life.”
Brittany, for her part, chimed in, “Listen, I am so grateful that he is doing this. Like, nobody wants him to be clean more than me, for our son and because I have to deal with him for the rest of my life.”Â

Meanwhile, Andy pointed out that Jax had already “taken more accountability” at this reunion than he’d ever heard from him in the past — even through years of being “confronted by horrible behavior” on Vanderpump Rules.
Brittany Cartwright reveals if she is “still in love” with Jax Taylor
Later, after work-in-progress Jax unpacked his “serious, deep-rooted” issues, including a need for “control,” “manipulation,” and “narcissistic behavior,” Andy asked if he was “still in love” with Brittany.
“That’s a really tough question to answer right now,” Jax, whose voice cracked as he appeared to fight back tears, answered. “Um… Let’s not talk about that right now.”
Even after some more light prodding from Andy, an emotional Jax still insisted that they “move on” from the topic. So, the host posed the same question to Brittany, who was simultaneously dabbing her own tears.
“I’ve said it a million times that leaving somebody that you actually loved is so much harder than leaving somebody when you’re done,” she replied. “And I was forced to leave the person I thought I was gonna be with for the rest of my life. It’s really hard to leave whenever you still have love for somebody. Really hard.”
As Brittany concluded, though, “He did not fight for me at all.”
