Brittany Cartwright continues to prioritize her little boy while thriving in her “sparkly” new chapter.
On Tuesday, August 26, The Valley mom returned to Instagram to provide another update on Cruz Michael Cauchi, the 4-year-old son she shares with her estranged husband, Jax Taylor.
“Happy boy,” Brittany captioned a video of a smiling Cruz playing on their backyard swingset.

Shortly before Brittany’s update, Jax also shared a peek at his and Cruz’s recent movie night. The Vanderpump Rules alum snapped a photo of his son sitting in a theater with a snack and drink in his lap. Although it’s unclear what film the duo was watching, Cruz seemed pretty captivated as his eyes were glued to the screen.
“Movies with my best bud..” Jax captioned the Story.

Jax and Brittany announced their separation in February 2024, less than five years after they got married. Since then, Brittany has filed for divorce and moved back into the family’s San Fernando Valley home, where she continues to raise Cruz. The former SURver shed more light on her marital split in The Valley Season 2 reunion, revealing she had primary custody of her son.

“Whenever the divorce is final, I’m going to allow [Jax] to have [Cruz] every Wednesday and every other weekend,” she explained. “And then, like, if I need to go get my nails done or something like that, like, he can watch him, I’m not gonna ever not let him have his son.”
Jax had seemingly come to terms with the custody agreement and Cruz’s living situation, as he acknowledged that they were in his son’s best interest.
“[Brittany] allows me to see him now,” Jax added during the reunion special. “It took some time, which I totally understand. … I don’t want to uproot my son from his house.”

As they prepare to finalize their divorce, Jax and Brittany have made several major life changes. The former announced he was exiting The Valley after two seasons and was stepping away from his namesake bar in Studio City. Jax said the career moves would allow him to put more focus on his biggest priorities, which were his health and his son.
Brittany recently confirmed she was back in the dating scene and involved with a new guy. She touched on the romance in the August 23 episode of her When Reality Hits podcast, but declined to reveal her “new man’s” identity.
“Not going to go too much into that yet, but you’ll probably hear more about him soon,” she said. “But yeah, it’s all good thing. I’m just feeling really happy. I can’t stop smiling. I’ve been feeling really, really good lately.”
