Brittany Cartwright Shares Update on Her Family’s Farm

Brittany Cartwright is reeling from an unexplained loss.

On Sunday, September 28, The Valley cast member revealed there was a massive fire at Turner Farm, her family’s 400-acre ancestral home in Winchester, Kentucky. Brittany showed the aftermath in an Instagram video originally shared by her mom, Sherri Cartwright, who was raised and continues to live on the property.

“This is so heartbreaking, our pawpaws last barn on the farm burned down today and we have no idea why,” Brittany captioned the footage. “The other barn fell down in a bad storm a couple years ago. My mom is devastated, so many memories since she was a little girl were made here… So thankful no one was hurt and all the animals are safe.”

Sherri confirmed emergency responders were on the scene but had yet to determine what caused the blaze. Although she was understandably “devastated” by the incident, Sherri said she was grateful that her miniature horses were unharmed.

“This is the last barn we had on the Turner farm,” she said in the clip. “This is where I kept the horses at… and it burnt down really fast. We’re not sure what exactly happened. The fire department has been out there. But thank god, praise god, I had the horses out. I let them out before church this morning, so they’re fine.”

Sherri posted a few shots of her horses grazing on the property, and said she planned to house the animals in the family’s stable.

“Just say a prayer for us. It could be a lot worse,” she continued. “Gosh, you just don’t know how quick something can be over. We thank you, lord, that we’re OK and the little horses are OK, ’cause I would be so upset without them. I love them so much.”

Sherri said the fire also damaged her and her sister’s nearby home, but suggested the house was still livable.
