As “identity theft” and “fraud” allegations involving Bronwyn Newport began circulating online during The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6, Episode 6, she gave her real-time response to the rumors.
“There’s two separate things happening here,” Bronwyn explained in a confessional. “There are mistakes I made in college — we’re talking 20 years ago. I think I had an eviction notice after I left BYU and I had to pay it later.”
She continued, “And then they’re saying that I allegedly committed crimes, current day, in the last year or so. Identity theft, grand theft, fraud, all of those are things listed under that penal code.”
Once she got those specifics out the way, Bronwyn shed as much light on the latter allegations as she said she was legally allowed to. “What actually happened was almost 10 years ago, nothing recent,” she clarified to a producer. “But it’s been a case that was dismissed and then later sealed, and I really, legally, can’t talk about what my involvement is in that.”
Bronwyn Newport reveals concerns about fallout from her alleged legal issues
In the wake of those media reports about her past, Bronwyn sat down with husband Todd Bradley to discuss how to best handle the “ridiculous headlines” that were making the rounds.
“You know this lying bulls—t online in the press affects all of us, personally and professionally,” Todd pointed out.

“I know this is gonna cause a problem for you at work, so I’m sorry about that ’cause I know it’s gotta be a concern for you,” Bronwyn replied, referencing Todd’s long career as a software and tech executive. “I know that my name next to any of these words reflects poorly on you, and you need to be seen as someone who is trustworthy and beyond reproach.”
Why Todd doesn’t want Bronwyn to go on BDDU cast trip amid her alleged legal issues
Bronwyn brought up a text message that her husband had sent her in which he suggested that she back out of the upcoming cast charter aboard a mega yacht with Captain Jason Chambers and his Below Deck Down Under crew.
After all, both he and Bronwyn already had their suspicions that Lisa Barlow was involved with the reports suddenly surfacing.
“It’s unclear to me why you wanna go spend time with these people, why you wanna spend time with Lisa, why you wanna fly 18 hours to be in the same room with someone that continually lies about you, lies about me, lied about Gwen,” Todd elaborated, referencing Brownyn’s 19-year-old daughter. “I struggle to understand why you’d do that.”
Though Bronwyn began RHOSLC Season 6 at a low point in her friendship with the OG (in part, because she brought Lisa’s lawsuits to light), the two had recently hashed things out and made peace, as a flashback to two weeks earlier reminded viewers.
“I wanted to be done fighting with Lisa,” Bronwyn added in a producer interview. “And the idea that she could’ve been doing this, concurrent to apologizing to me and acting like she wants to move forward, is pretty devious.”

When Todd doubled down that she should “not go” on the cast yachting adventure, Bronwyn asked what he was “worried about” happening. Again, he referenced Lisa.
“A tiger can’t change its stripes. She’s not gonna change,” Todd elaborated. “I don’t know why you get in the gutter with her — because that’s what it is. You just get down in the gutter and muck around with slime.”
He went on to offer his wife a warning: “If you decide to go, I got it; you’re a big girl, grown woman, I understand,” Todd continued. “But don’t come home complaining that you and Lisa got into a fight, because I assume it’s gonna happen. You’re setting yourself up for that. It’s on you.”
