When Heather Gay pointed out Bronwyn Newport didn’t actually have the receipts for her $4 million dollar diamond necklace in the Season 6 premiere of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Bronwyn knew she had no choice but to tell the truth.
The conversation started after Bronwyn called out Lisa Barlow and “all of her lawsuits” as the possible reason for Lisa’s absence from the first trip of the season.
“I’m not going to sit here and have you tell me all this s—t about Lisa’s business, when you just got caught red-handed lying about a $4 million necklace,” Heather exploded on Bronwyn in the Sept. 16 episode. She later added, “You didn’t own the necklace.”
The question of the necklace dates back to Season 5, Episode 8, when a private jeweler brought the 170-carat stunner from jeweler Norman Silverman (along with earrings) to a cast trip in Palm Springs, California, so that Bronwyn and her husband, Todd Bradley, could shop privately for a tenth anniversary gift.
“So, these are the pieces I talked to Norman about, that I was thinking,” Bronwyn told Todd at the time. “Happy anniversary to me. Yes?”
Bronwyn later wore the glittering diamond necklace to her anniversary party with her husband in Season 5, Episode 9. Now, she’s clearing the air about if she and Todd really bought the necklace.
“I knew I wasn’t going to buy this necklace,” Bronwyn explained in the Sept. 16 episode. “But I made the girls believe that I had it, by saying, ‘When I wear it, you’ll see it,’ thinking that I’d get a different version and they wouldn’t notice the difference.”
She admitted that the move was “so immature” and that she was trying to “be cool.”
“That is, in effect, lying, and that is wrong,” she added. “How did that become more important to me than my integrity, or the importance of Todd and I’s anniversary? Or being tough enough to not give a damn what everyone else thinks?”
Bronwyn Newport tells the ‘Wives why she insinuated Todd bought a $4M necklace
ICYMI, Bronwyn first addressed questions surrounding what Andy Cohen called “one of the most lavish gifts we’ve ever seen on the housewives” during the RHOSLC Season 5 reunion.
“I thought you were going to wear the necklace to the reunion?” he asked, and Bronwyn replied, “I thought about it, because I thought that would clear up a lot of questions.”
When Andy asked her to clarify which “questions,” she answered, “Whether or not I have it and can wear it, right?”
She also explained more about what really happened with the jewelry purchases.
“I went to their vault, and picked out a few pieces, and they brought stuff to me,” she said during the reunion. “I ended up with a pair of hoop earrings and then they made me a smaller version of that necklace that I tried on that day.”
But then Lisa refuted Bronwyn’s claim, and said she’d communicated with the jeweler, who told her Bronwyn and Todd “didn’t buy” the jewelry and the hoops were returned.

Four months later, Heather asked if Bronwyn brought up Lisa’s legal troubles in the Season 6 premiere as “retaliation” for Lisa’s jewelry accusations.
“It is my fault,” Bronwyn said, apologizing to the ‘Wives for insinuating she and Todd bought the $4 million necklace. “I should not have tried to be cutesy about it.”
She later added, “I shouldn’t have said it that way…I was trying to protect myself and the jeweler, and it came out sounding like a lie, and that’s bad on me.”
Bronwyn Newport navigates relationship troubles with Todd in RHOSLC Season 6
Although they celebrated a decade of marriage during Season 5, Bronwyn and her husband also navigated Todd’s alleged past infidelity and an “emotional affair.”
“We talked it out…it’s hard to watch,” Bronwyn said at the Season 5 reunion of revealing her marital issues.
And a moment in the Season 6 trailer indicates the couple might still be dealing with issues.
“You know how I feel about when people misunderstand me,” a tearful Bronwyn tells Todd. “I shouldn’t have to feel misunderstood by you, too.”

Despite this, Todd was recently by Bronwyn’s side as she rang in a major milestone: turning 40 years old.
