The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Bronwyn Newport revealed a major issue in her marriage to Todd Bradley, prior to confirming their separation.
On RHOSLC‘s Season 6 finale in Greece, a “heartbreaking” play based on the cast’s perceptions of each other really struck a chord with Bronwyn, particularly as it related to the concept of loyalty — or lack thereof — in her relationships.
“I saw a lot of truth in how they portrayed me,” Bronwyn tearfully admitted to the ladies after the “Sisters of Salt” performance. “I have a deep issue of not feeling like people are loyal to me. And a big part of that is probably because I’m not loyal to other people, or I don’t know how to be. I don’t get it, and I don’t give it.”

In a confessional, Bronwyn noted that this had been a long-running theme in her life, especially within her own family, beginning when she welcomed her daughter, Gwen, while still attending college.
“I view my past as one long, you know, who’s who list of people who have let me down in a loyalty way,” she explained to a producer. “It’s why I want it so bad, but also why I don’t know what the f–k it looks like.”
Bronwyn continued, “When I had Gwen, I did feel like my parents would put their shame and embarrassment ahead of how much they cared about me. Even Todd, who I love and choose to be with, and I’m working things out with, if we are being really honest, I can say that Todd has been disloyal to me.”

The play appeared to be an eye-opening experience for Bronwyn, who acknowledged in RHOSLC‘s Jan. 6 episode that she had “a lot of work to do” on herself.
“I’m a big girl,” she added, while talking to the other ladies. “It’s not anybody else’s fault anymore. I have to figure that out.”

Relating the experience to her and Todd’s relationship — as well as speculation about Meredith Marks’ marriage to Seth Marks — Bronwyn further opened up about how she handled some of her marital issues behind closed doors versus in public.
“I have had very hard times in my marriage,” Bronwyn, who has discussed Todd’s infidelity in the past, explained to Meredith. “But when that’s happening, and I don’t know how to discuss it, and I don’t know what’s gonna happen, and I’m scared s–tless that something that’s so important to me might not work out, I get defensive. I put a wall up.”

Despite their issues, Bronwyn praised Todd for picking up the slack at home while she was in Greece by taking a last-minute flight from Utah to California to help her mom, Muzzy, complete a major move from her longtime family home.
“This is the Todd that people don’t see. This is the Todd I love,” she told a producer. “[He] didn’t have to be asked. Todd would do anything for my family. He’s so generous, he’s so wonderful. Sometimes I think he’s a moron and does the dumbest s–t, but this Todd [who’s] there for me no matter what is a Todd that doesn’t get acknowledged enough.”
In an exclusive interview at Bravo HQ, Bronwyn also defended Todd for warning her against traveling with some of her castmates, namely Lisa Barlow, in the first place.
“Todd’s always coming from a place of wanting what’s best for me and, honestly, wanting what’s best for himself too,” Bronwyn shared. “I think Todd doesn’t like to see me hurt, and he also doesn’t like to have to deal with it, because then I’m, like, crying to him on the phone. I’m like, ‘I wish I hadn’t said this.’ It’s, like, all these things he has to deal with.”
