FAIRFIELD, Calif. (TCD) — Investigators have located and positively identified the burned remains of a homicide suspect’s wife.
Gregory Hobson and his wife, Anu Anand Hobson, were last seen on Feb. 14 near Elk Grove Boulevard in Sacramento in a silver 2021 Toyota Tacoma on Flock surveillance cameras.
The next day, Feb. 15, Fairfield Police said the couple was reported missing. Police found Hobson and his vehicle on Feb. 16, but his wife was not with him, and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of her murder.
On March 3, police located burned remains and were able to recover DNA from them. Several days later, the remains were positively identified as Anu Anand Hobson’s.
Gregory faces a charge of murder and is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on Thursday, March 9.
In a statement, police said, “Our thoughts are with Anu’s family as they receive this heartbreaking news. We can only hope this discovery brings some level of closure to the family as they grieve. Please respect the family’s privacy while they cope with their loss.”
