REEDLEY, Calif. (TCD) — A 17-year-old, his mother, and her boyfriend were arrested after four people were found shot to death this week.
On the morning of Saturday, Jan. 6, the Reedley Police Department responded to a “distressing” call about a residential burglary at a home on South Church Avenue and found a gun safe that had been completely emptied. Officers searched the property and found 81-year-old Billy Bonds and 44-year-old Guadalupe Bonds deceased. A third victim, 61-year-old Darrell Bonds, was also killed.
Police began searching for a fourth person, Matthew Bonds, and said he was at risk due to health concerns and in connection to the events at his home. Investigators executed search warrants at three different properties in the area and discovered his body in a structure at one of the locations. Matthew Bonds was married to Guadalupe Bonds. He was Billy Bonds’ grandson.
All four victims died from gunshot wounds.
On Jan. 9, Reedley Police announced they arrested a 17-year-old male on four counts of homicide. The teen’s mother, 34-year-old Brynn Curtis, and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Rafael Gonzalez, were taken into custody for accessory after the fact.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has reportedly petitioned for the teen to be tried as an adult.
A motive for the shooting was not released.
