LOS ANGELES (TCN) — A California woman was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the death of a “Married… with Children” actress who received a silicone injection in her buttocks.
Libby Adame, 55, was convicted Oct. 9 of second-degree murder and practicing medicine without a license, KABC-TV reports. She was sentenced Nov. 5.
Adame injected silicone into actress Cindyana Santangelo, 59, at the actress’ home on March 24. According to the Daily Mail, the silicone in her buttocks entered her bloodstream, which led to a fatal embolism. She was declared dead at a local hospital.
Santangelo’s husband testified at the trial that Adame fled their Malibu home immediately after the injection when his wife began having convulsions, KTLA reports.
Adame was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in March 2024 for a similar procedure. In 2019, she and her daughter, Alicia Galaz, then 25, illegally injected silicone into Karissa Rajpaul, 26, at an in-home procedure in Los Angeles. Rajpaul later died from an embolism.
After Rajpaul’s death, Adame was sentenced to four years and four months in prison, KTLA reports, but she received credit for time served and electronic monitoring. Adame resumed performing cosmetic procedures within a year.
According to the Los Angeles Times, prosecutors in the 2024 trial viewed 2018 surveillance footage that showed Adame fleeing the scene when first responders arrived to treat a woman who later died of injuries related to the procedure she had performed. No charges were filed in that death.
