It appears that a firing on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 could be on the horizon — and Captain Sandy Yawn is tasking bosun Nathan Gallagher with deciding which deck crew member to cut loose.

In the wake of Nathan’s team’s poor performance on the first charter, deckhands Tessa Budd, Max Salvador, and Christian Trimino made some additional “ridiculous” mistakes on Episode 3 (more on that below). A sneak peek at Season 10, Episode 4 episode (airing on Oct. 20) previewed even more critical errors to come, including a guest ending up in the sea at night, after Nathan warned his crew, “Don’t let them swim.”

In the clip shown at the end of Episode 3 previewing next week’s episode, Captain Sandy declared, “The deck team is total chaos,” before putting the ball in her bosun’s court: “This is your call, Nathan. Who are you going to let go?”

You’ll have to tune in, though, to find out exactly who, if anyone, Nathan decided to put on the chopping block.

Inside Nathan Gallagher’s deck crew’s issues on Below Deck Med

Below Deck Med‘s Oct. 13 episode picked back up with Nathan refereeing one of several arguments between Christian and Max, who have been butting heads since day one, instructing his deckhands to “keep it professional.”

“It’s definitely a clash of egos, but they’re not actually alpha men,” Nathan remarked to a producer in a confessional. “They aren’t lions. They’re behaving like f–kin’ cats. I just want them to drop their ego and just get on with it.”

Prior to the season’s second charter, he called a deck team meeting to set some expectations.

“I want everyone to show way more urgency,” Nathan announced, noting that the trio had to be better with “time management” and making sure they’re completing their assigned tasks. He also appointed Max to be the unofficial lead deckhand over the less experienced Christian and Tessa.

In a confessional, Nathan noted how both he and Tessa were sick prior to the first charter, causing them both to arrive just hours before departure. “Going into this second charter, we all know the boat,” he added. “We’re all healthy, and now it’s time to actually do our job and do it well. We’ve no more excuses.”

Nathan’s hopes were swiftly shattered, however, as Christian and Max continued to argue, and a charter guest floated away on an eFoil. After helping the gentleman back aboard Bravado, Nathan called out Tess for ignoring his direction to give the man an “introduction” on how to use the watercraft.

Referring to the charter as “an absolute f–kin’ s–t show,” Nathan told his crew, “Something needs to change, and it needs to change fast.”

What came after, however, was more of the same, except this time it was Christian, not a guest, who ended up stranded in the sea on a watercraft.

“Having my own team member float away on a f–king Jet Ski, that’s a whole new ball game,” Nathan vented in a confessional. “I’ve tried motivating them and teaching them, but they’re just dead weight. I’m at a dead end and I don’t know what to do about it.”

Captain Sandy Yawn and Nathan Gallagher assess the deck crew

Throughout the episode, Captain Sandy had several discussions with Nathan about his crew’s performance. Though he admitted that they had “a lot to learn,” the bosun remained optimistic that his team would “get there” eventually.

“I know you want perfection, but when you’re showing people how to do this, they’ll follow you,” Captain Sandy advised him, later acknowledging that he had a “tough” job. “When you’re bosun, you have a lot more responsibility, and I need you to show me you can do this.”

Following the “ridiculous” and “embarrassing” guest eFoil gaffe, she put it more bluntly in a confessional: “Tessa and Christian have no idea what they’re doing.”

Afterward, she told Nathan to “never leave those two alone.”

As Nathan concluded in a producer interview, “I want to have my team’s back, but it’s starting to be difficult. It’s just a f–kin’ nightmare.”
