A 1-year-old was killed Sunday night in a rollover crash in Houston, and and adult and a toddler were critically injured.
Two other children — a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old — had minor injuries, as did two other adults, KTRK reports.
Police said two of the children and one adult were ejected from the black Honda as it flipped several times before coming to a stop — and none of the children were properly restrained. A car seat was found in the trunk, unused.
The crash took place in the southbound lanes of Interstate 45 near Veteran’s Memorial at about 10:30 p.m. A witness reported seeing the Honda lose control, hitting the highway’s center wall, and then rolling.
Houston police said they were investigating the cause of the crash.
“We have a DRE and a DWI unit out here conducting field sobriety tests, doing that aspect of the investigation,” Lt. J.P. Horelica said. “At this time, it’s too early in the investigation to know if anybody was intoxicated or not, but we have to check all angles.”
