Chad Woods arrested’ A North Carolina man is facing murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed a driver who ran over his teenage son on Monday, August 14.
The father also stole the driver’s truck and drove to his home along with his wife, leaving his son’s body on the road, authorities said as per reports.

Driver Jeffrey McKay, 39, was shot and murdered while on the road, and Chad Woods, 41, the 17-year-old’s father, is suspected of both taking his truck and killing him.
According to Wral, he is accused of second-degree murder and larceny of a motor vehicle. On Dink Ashley Road in Timberlake, North Carolina, roughly 21 miles north of Durham, the fatal occurrence happened at around six in the morning.
After their car ran out of petrol, Woods, his wife, and their son—whose name has not been made public—started to walk.
When McKay struck the 17-year-old, who reportedly died at the scene, he was operating a department vehicle. Before aid could reach McKay, who had called 911 to report the collision, Woods is accused of shooting him.

The Person County Sheriff’s Department told Fox News that McKay was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Sargeant Kevin Morris of the Person County Sheriff’s Office said Woods has a criminal record, but he did not provide more details, the Independent reported.
Woods’ father, Lawrence Claiborne, said his son was distraught after losing his son. “He just, he killed my son. He killed my son,” Chad said after the incident, adding “He was just out of it, going off and stuff.”
Woods is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 21. He could face life in prison without parole if convicted of second-degree murder.
Who was Jeffrey McKay?
McKay was an electrical supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections’ engineering branch. According to Morris, he resided in Youngsville, a city 40 miles southeast of Timberlake.
The truck was discovered by deputies at the Woods family residence. According to the publication, the sheriff’s office stated that the mother of the deceased youngster was not facing any charges.
According to SKY 5, deputies have been looking for the gun that Woods dropped into a pond after the incident.
Before the fatal accident, multiple people had called 911 to report a family walking in the roadway before the crash.
The deceased teenager’s brother, as reported by the Independent, said he was a good person. “He wanted to be an IT technician. He was doing, he wanted to be positive in life. He wanted to help people. He was a people person.”
