Below Deck Down Under’s Tzarina Mace Ralph and Harry Van Vliet once enjoyed a close friendship — but it seems that ship has sailed.
Tzarina opened up about the strained relationship to The Daily Dish, revealing the dissolution of the friendship has been “one of the hardest things” she’s navigated in the aftermath of Season 3.
“I have to say I’m heartbroken about losing Harry as a friend,” the head chef admitted. “But I’ve learnt [that] boundaries are very important.”
What happened between Tzarina Mace Ralph and Harry Van Vliet?
As the only two cast members from Season 2 to return for Season 3, Tzarina and Harry quickly slipped into an easy rapport with one another, seeking each other out throughout the charter season for advice, support, or a shoulder to cry on.
But the friendship hit some choppy waters after the cameras stopped rolling and Tzarina took to social media to weigh in on the onscreen drama she had with chief stew Lara Rigby.
As a result, Harry spoke out about what he felt was online “bullying” and fans soon noticed that he was no longer following Tzarina on Instagram.
Harry clarified what happened between the two during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
“I didn’t stop following Tzarina, actually. I got blocked by Tzarina on Instagram after expressing my feelings and thoughts on the way she was blasting and the way she was commenting on each episode each week,” he said.
“I don’t support bullying. And I tried to express that to her as a friend, and her response was to block me,” he continued.
He echoed a similar stance when talking to The Daily Dish about where he stands today with the British-born chef.
“Tzarina and I don’t talk after I stood up to her about her actions online,” he said. “As a professional, I wish she could be the bigger person and not add fuel to the fire.”
What Tzarina has said about her fallout with Harry
As for Tzarina, well, she had her own take on the situation.
“I support my friends ’til the end of the earth and hold them high. When they cry I hold them, when they come to me I give reason,” she told The Daily Dish. “I put Harry on a pedestal and sadly it was too high for me to climb in the end. I didn’t get the same support as I gave him. And for me that’s not a real friendship.”
Although it doesn’t look like it will be smooth sailing between these two anytime soon, Tzarina still had a message of goodwill for Harry.
“I wish him all the luck in the world on his next life ventures and wish him all the love … in the world,” she said.
