Chelsea news: Jamie Carragher thinks Julian Nagelsmann agreement may be sealed
Jamie Carragher thinks Chelsea may already have an agreement with Julian Nagelsmann when it comes to the German replacing Frank Lampard. The 35-year-old is currently on the market after his ruthless sacking from Bayern Munich at the end of last month. And while Tottenham are interested in the young boss, he could end up moving to Stamford Bridge instead.
Chelsea are planning to hold talks with Nagelsmann about replacing Graham Potter, who was recently relieved of his duties after underwhelming following his appointment back in September.
Yet Carragher has now suggested the Blues may already have an agreement in place with the 35-year-old.
“If a manager has an option between Chelsea and Spurs, I think they will choose Chelsea in terms of giving them more chance of window, and maybe a bigger transfer kitty,” he told The Overlap Live Tour in London.
“The fact that they put Frank Lampard in tells me they may already have someone lined up, but that person will come in the summer.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out in the next few weeks that Julian Naglesmann has agreed to join Chelsea, but he wanted some time out and to get ready for the summer and have a pre-season

“I might be totally wrong, and they might not have anyone and are still working on it, but to sign Frank straight away and not give it another week to get someone in for a couple of months, makes me feel they have something already lined up to the summer.”
Nagelsmann is a young manager but has already worked at the likes of Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim over the course of his career.
Yet he’s not the only boss being linked with Chelsea as they hunt a world-class replacement for Potter.

Chelsea have held talks with Luis Enrique, who has been out of work since leaving his position as Spain manager after the Qatar World Cup.
Mauricio Pochettino is another candidate, with the Argentine yet to make a managerial job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain back in the summer.
