Child Dead After Houston-Area Flea Market Shooting; 1 Other Child, 3 Adults Wounded – Crime Online

Five people were shot — including two children, one of whom died — at a Texas flea market late Sunday afternoon.

Pearland (pronounced pair-land) Police said they received the first call about the shooting at Cole’s Antique Village & Flea Market at about 5:30 p.m. Public Information Officer Chad Rogers said the shooting appears to have broken out during an argument between two people.

Investigators aren’t certain if one or both of the people had guns and fired shots.

“I do not know if it’s one shooter or two shooters,” Rogers said. “I do know it was a disturbance between two people”

Two children and three adults were taken to hospitals for treatment. All five were still alive when police briefed reporters at 8:30 p.m., but an hour later they said one of the children had died.

No other information was released about the victims, including ages.

Rogers said no suspects were in custody as of Sunday night, and he couldn’t say if investigators had identified the suspects.

The flea market is a very popular stop in Pearland, particularly on weekends, Rogers said, although he didn’t have an estimate on the number of people there at the time of the shooting and said inclement weather could have affected the turnout.

“Typically, it’s really busy on the weekend,” he said.

Cole’s is a sprawling area with multiple sellers and food trucks. Rogers said thousands of people are often on the site on weekends.

Rogers asked that anyone with information call a tipline at 281-997-5828. There is an option to remain anonymous.
