The Season 2 finale of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys ended on a high note for Cole McBee and his girlfriend, Kacie Adkison, as they welcomed their daughter, Blair Collins McBee, in December 2024. But the season also brought a few ups and downs for the couple, including Kacie putting the brakes on any talk of an engagement. Now, with the cameras down and the season over, Kacie “would like to set the record straight on a few things” about their relationship in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish.

“Filming a show means the viewers only see a fraction of our life, and often those are our hardest moments that make it on screen,” Kacie shared via email. “What people don’t always get to see are the good days, and the everyday ways we show up for each other.”

Below, Cole and Kacie share more about where they stand today and their plans for a future together.

Cole McBee reveals new details of when he might propose to Kacie Adkison

With a new baby just months away in Season 2, Cole began seriously considering proposing to Kacie, and even enlisted help from his mother, Kristi McBee, to go ring shopping in Episode 8. But when Cole broached the subject with Kacie, she shut down the idea.

“I just think we need a little more time,” Kacie explained in the August 18 episode. “I don’t wanna get engaged just because it’s the next step in our relationship. I wanna get married because, like, I wanna spend the rest of my life with you.”

So are Cole and Kacie ready to put a ring on it now? Both shared their answers with The Daily Dish.

“I think we are both ready for the next step,” Cole teased in the exclusive interview. “So maybe it will happen soon?”

Kacie also voiced that she’s now “ready and excited” for both engagement and marriage after welcoming their daughter.

“Becoming parents has brought us so much closer, and I feel confident in our relationship to take that next step,” she shared. “Blair will be a beautiful flower girl, and that makes it even more special.”

Kacie Adkison shares what surprised her most about McBee Dynasty Season 2

Kacie opened up more about what “surprised” her the most during Season 2: “How much I found my voice as a person and in my relationship.”

But she also realized “how much anxiety” she had during her pregnancy. ICYMI, Cole and Kacie rushed to the hospital in Episode 2 when she had a health emergency involving her heart, that included hot flashes and dizziness. Thankfully, Kacie and the baby were both okay.

Cole admitted that he hadn’t been the greatest boyfriend and partner to Kacie leading up to the engagement conversation. During a McBee vacation in the Ozarks, Cole and Kacie argued over his drinking, and during a McBee boys’ weekend in Nashville, Cole ignored Kacie’s two requests: no girls in the house and nightly check-ins before bed.

“Lately, I haven’t been the best, between Nashville and Ozarks,” he acknowledged in the August 18 episode. “I wish I would’ve treated Kacie better … I need to make it up to her.”

Kacie explained her reasons for not wanting an engagement in that moment.

“I love Cole, but he doesn’t really know how to read a room. I think we have a lot to improve in our relationship before I can see myself marrying him,” she said in her confessional interview.

But, things have changed since Season 2 finished filming. Kacie shared with the The Daily Dish that the couple’s “relationship is strong,” and added, “at the end of the day, we are each other’s best friend.”

How The McBee Dynasty Season 2 changed Cole McBee and Kacie Adkison’s relationship

Watching the season back made Kacie realize how much happened during filming.

“I didn’t realize it then, but I was constantly in fight or flight mode,” she told The Daily Dish. “I realized there’s so much that had happened that my mind had blocked out of memory. Viewers might not have noticed, but I was constantly worried about making sure Blair would grow up in a close, loving family and not be surrounded by the drama from the past year.”

She added, “Looking back now, all the anxiety was really for no reason. Blair is here and we couldn’t be closer as a family.”

Kacie admitted to having a “new perspective” now that she’s watched Season 2, and shared there are situations she wished she’d handled differently.

“I realized how important it is to speak up, reach out and not let anxiety or my own ego hold me back,” she said. “At the same time, it also reminded me that I can’t control how others respond, and all I can do is stay true to myself and focus on my family.”
