Colorado Caregiver Arrested for Severely Abusing Toddler Boy – Crime Online

A Colorado woman has been arrested for allegedly abusing a 2-year-old boy so badly part of his skull had to be removed to stop bleeding on the brain.

McKinley Slone Hernandez, 25, was arrested on Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrest a day earlier. KUSA reported.

Family members wrote in a GoFundMe that Giovanni Reichert was lifeflighted to a children’s hospital on September 1 after he was “harmed by the hands of a trusted caregiver” and underwent emergency surgery.

In the most recent update, on Thursday, the family wrote that it was a “rough Thanksgiving” after another surgery on Wednesday and was “uncomfortable and in pain” on the holiday.

The boy’s mother, Stefanie Reichert, told KUSA she was concerned about the impact of Giovanni’s injuries on his recovery.

“He doesn’t like strangers, she said. “Now he doesn’t like the nurses and the doctors. He doesn’t let anybody touch him. We have to do everything for them in there.”

Hernandez is being held on a $100,000 bond, police said.
