STAMFORD, Conn. (TCD) — A jury found a 49-year-old woman guilty of several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, in connection with the 2019 disappearance and death of Jennifer Farber Dulos, whose body has still not been found.
The State’s Attorney for the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District announced Friday, March 1, that Michelle Troconis was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit tampering with physical evidence, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, and hindering prosecution. Troconis reportedly worked with her ex-boyfriend and Farber Dulos’ estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, to kill Farber Dulos amid a “contentious divorce and custody battle.”
The Hartford Courant reports the jury deliberated for nearly three days before reaching the verdict.
Troconis will be sentenced in May.
Farber Dulos was reported missing to the New Canaan Police Department on the evening of May 24, 2019. According to New Canaan Police, Farber Dulos was last seen that morning dropping her children off at school. Officers located her Chevy Suburban SUV near a park the same day, and it kicked off “the most far-reaching and complex case” the police department had ever handled. The state’s attorney’s office said investigators located clothing with her blood on it in trash cans, as well as altered license plates connected to a car she used to own.
Prosecutors argued in the trial that Troconis cleaned up the car used in Farber Dulos’ killing, burned evidence in a fireplace, and “manipulated Dulos’ cellphone the day Farber Dulos was murdered so Dulos could create an alibi.”
According to the Hartford Courant, Dulos was charged with murder but died in 2020 following a suicide attempt. Investigators reportedly believe he drove a co-worker’s car to a location in New Canaan, then biked to Farber Dulos’ home and waited for her there. Experts testified there was evidence to show two “bloodshed events” occurred in the garage, so she was hit at least twice.
The Associated Press reports Troconis reportedly drove to Hartford with Dulos and got rid of several trash bags in different locations around the city. Investigators discovered some of the bags and recovered clothing items that had Dulos’ DNA on it. One of the trash bags reportedly contained traces of Troconis’ DNA.
The court officially declared Farber Dulos dead in October 2023. State’s Attorney Paul Ferencek said, “While it’s our hope that today’s verdict brings Jennifer’s family and friends some peace, we also hope that someday we can provide resolution to the still unanswered question of where Jennifer rests. I assure you the State of Connecticut and this office will never stop looking.”
