On Wednesday, an Alabama jury convicted a man of sexually abusing a child in 2022.
According to AL.com, a jury deliberated for four hours before convicting Christopher Parker, 38, of rape and child sex abuse. Blount County police arrested Parker in 2022 after receiving a report about him sexually assaulting two children younger than 12.
District Attorney Pamela L. Casey said Parker would smoke marijuana and methamphetamine at the residence where he carried out the crimes. Prosecutors said Parker had access to the victims because he would also spend the night, according to WBMA.
Evidence presented at Parker’s trial showed he sexually assaulted one of the victims as she slept on an air mattress. Casey said the victim revealed the abuse to her grandfather, who was her custodial guardian.
Parker — who has prior convictions for burglary and theft — faces at least 99 years in prison under the state’s Habitual Felony Offender law. His sentencing is scheduled for January 20, 2026.
