It turns out that Craig Conover’s late-night hot tub sessions with Salley Carson and Charley Manley on Southern Charm weren’t quite as steamy as you might expect.
On the Southern Charm After Show for Season 11, Episode 6, Craig, Salley, and Charley all separately revealed their accounts of the PG backyard activities that regularly went down with them and friend Kory Keefer into the early morning hours, last summer.
“Everyone can think it’s weird, but, like, we, all four of us, got so close,” Craig said. “We had the best times, and we talked about so much. … We were in there for hours, not hooking up, so we were just talking and just having fun. And, like, I’d cook for everyone. Like, it was sick.”
Seated next to Madison LeCroy, Craig continued, “You know what it felt like was like college again: when you had best girl friends and guy friends, and everyone just hung out and there was nothing else to do but go to, like, class if you wanted to in the morning. Like, that was what it was like this year.”

Charley similarly described their hot tub hangouts as feeling like she was back with her “college friends again.” But Salley, on the other hand, admitted that she’d been hoping for some spicier extracurricular activities.
After Molly O’Connell offered her “orgy” theory, Salley scoffed at the suggestion, replying that “it would have been way more interesting” than what was really going on behind the scenes.
“You don’t think that I’m in a hot tub until 4 a.m. and I don’t want to be touched or made out with?” Salley remarked. “Are you kidding me? … I was like, ‘What the f–k was I even there for?'”
A bit later, she added, “I’m not kidding you. Like, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a hot tub with a hot man and not, like, at least made out.”

When Venita Aspen asked what the foursome “used to call” themselves, Charley answered, “The Cult.”
In his separate After Show setup, Craig, meanwhile, explained the origin of the group’s nickname.

“We called it “The Cult” because Venita called us, like, a cult,” he said. “And I was like, ‘OK, then we’re just gonna embrace this.’ Venita said I had Salley acting like she was in a cult, is what she said to her. And so, I thought that was absurd.”
That led a producer to ask how many times exactly they’d all soaked in his hot tub together, and Craig estimated they’d had “probably like six or seven” hangouts in total.

The subject had also come up at Miss Patricia Altschul and Whitney Sudler-Smith’s gentlemen’s dinner during Southern Charm‘s Jan. 7 episode.
Referencing her “long chat with Madison,” Miss Patricia said that she heard Craig had been “Mr. Hot Tub with girls every night,” before asking him point-blank if that was actually true.
“Yeah, um, it’s been fun,” he vaguely responded, prompting the matriarch to ask how he entertains guests in a hot tub when the Charleston weather “gets really hot and steamy” in the summer.
“Jump in the pool,” Craig replied. “Yeah, it’s actually like a fun little circuit. I mean, some people would make fun of it, because no one has kissed yet.”
That’s when Shep Rose entered the chat to declare, “That’s the most PG hot tub party ever.”
