‘Cult Mom’ Lori Vallow Daybell to Go on Trial in Arizona on August 1 – Crime Online

Lori Vallow Daybell has a new trial date in Arizona.

The so-called “Cult Mom,” already serving three life sentences for the deaths of two of her children and her fifth husband’s first wife, will now stand trial beginning on August 1 on conspiracy charges in the death of her fourth husband and the attempted murder of her niece’s former husband, KUTV reported.

Both of the Arizona crimes were allegedly carried out by Vallow Daybell’s brother, Alex Cox, who died a few months later, reportedly of natural causes, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Cox was also involved in some capacity in the deaths of 7-year-old JJ Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, whose bodies were found on the property of Chad Daybell, Vallow Daybell’s husband, after months of searching for them.

Vallow Daybell was convicted in the deaths of the two children and Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell’s wife. Chad Daybell is awaiting trial in Idaho on the same charges. His trial is scheduled to begin in April.

Vallow Daybell’s Arizona trial was initially expected to begin in April as well, and she was extradited from Idaho in December to prepare for the trial. The Arizona judge, however, delayed the trial in early January to allow attorneys more time to prepare, deeming the case “complex.”

According to KUTV, a scheduling hearing is set in the Arizona case for February 21.

Cox claimed self-defense in the shooting death of Charles Vallow, but after the disappearance and deaths of Vallow Daybell’s children and the death of Tammy Daybell, investigators in Arizona took a closer look. Cox died before they could bring charges. He was also the alleged shooter who opened fire on Brandon Boudreaux, Vallow Daybell’s niece’s then husband, as he returned home from taking his children to school.
