Dad Hammered Screw Into Stepdaughter’s Skull During Bloody Attack – Crime Online

A New York man allegedly carried out an attack on Wednesday that left his wife and 12-year-old stepdaughter injured.

Sources told the New York Daily News that Joshua Burnside, 28, stabbed his 31-year-old wife and her daughter at their Bronx apartment. The woman reportedly grabbed a knife in self-defense during an argument with Burnside, who eventually took the weapon and used it to stab her in the stomach and slash her face.

The Daily News reported that the 12-year-old girl witnessed the attack. After the woman ran outside the apartment, Burnside allegedly stabbed the girl all over her body before getting a long screw and hammering it into the side of her skull.

Burnside was arrested without incident. His wife was hospitalized for minor injuries, while her daughter underwent surgery and remains in critical condition. The New York Daily News reported that two other children, aged 2 and 5, who were at home during the incident were not injured.

Law enforcement sources told the publication that doctors located bruising to the girl’s head before discovering the screw puncturing her brain.

“It was like four or five doors she [the mother] pounded on. We came outside and she was bleeding from her abdomen, so we were trying to figure out what was going on,” a neighbor told News12. “Then once she started saying that there were kids there, that’s why he was like, ‘Oh my God,’ you know, you’re here, the kids are up there, what’s going on?”

WNBC reported that Burnside suffered an injury to the wrist. He is facing charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with Wednesday’s attack.

According to the New York Post, bloody fingerprints were seen on a sixth-floor door at the Bronx apartment building. The door was reportedly also dented at the bottom.

Burnside’s arraignment was scheduled for Friday.
