Police arrested an Illinois man this week for allegedly killing his 2-month-old son months earlier.
Kayson Flowers’ mother told WLS that her son was in someone’s care for a week before someone returned him in a stroller and claimed he was asleep. Flowers’ mother realized the baby was unresponsive, so she took him to the hospital — where doctors determined he had died six to eight hours earlier.
Flowers’ father, Anthony Evans, 23, reportedly dropped off their son, telling the mother that he had been sleeping for a long time.
However, an autopsy determined Flowers suffered multiple injuries consistent with abuse, including a brain bleed. His April 28 death was ruled a homicide.
On Thursday, Cook County prosecutors claimed Evans said a demon made him kill his infant son. They also alleged that Evans wanted Flowers’ mother to get an abortion when he learned she was pregnant, according to CBS.
Days after giving birth, Flowers’ mother was reportedly hospitalized for injuries she sustained when Evans punched her in the stomach.
Evans, arrested on Monday, is now charged with murder. He is due back in court next month.
“I want justice for my son,” Flowers’ mother told WLS. “I’m not going to rest until I get justice.”
