Date Set for Former American Idol Contestant’s Murder Trial, Charges Mount – Crime Online

An Ohio judge scheduled has scheduled the murder for former “American Idol” participant Caleb Flynn, who stands accused of killing his wife, Ashley Flynn, for next month.

On Monday, Judge Jeannine N. Pratt scheduled the trial for April 28 at 8:45 a.m., at the Miami County Common Pleas Court.

Caleb Flynn appeared at Monday’s hearing but didn’t speak, while his attorney, Paul Watkins, requested a continuance.

Last week, according to FOX News Digital, a Miami County grand jury returned “an 11-count indictment” against Flynn, charging him with:

  • Murder (three counts)
  • Felonious assault (two counts)
  • Tampering with evidence (three counts)
  • Intimidation of a witness in a criminal case (two counts)

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the defendant is accused of shooting Ashley Flynn, 37, in the head multiple times while inside their Tipp County home February 16, and staging the scene to look like a burglary.

He called 911 early morning February 16 and reported a burglary in progress.

When police arrived, they found Ashley dead in bed in the master bedroom. They also found signs of apparent forced entry.

Somebody broke into my home and killed my wife,” he told a 911 dispatcher. “Please, please hurry.”

Meanwhile, according to Court TV, the prosecution and defense are scheduled to return to court April 6 for a status conference. A judge is expected to discuss the defendant’s request for a gag order.
