As Dr. Simone Whitmore saw it on Married to Medicine, her parental obligation to financially support her two sons ended when they both recently earned college degrees.
“Once Miles and Michael told me that they were gonna be graduating this year, all I have been able to think about is moving forward financially,” she shared in a confessional from Season 12, Episode 3. “Now, it’s time to pay bills, baby!”
And 22-year-old Michael, specifically, had certainly racked up some big expenses: As Dr. Simone revealed, he had “spent over $60,000 by himself” in a year on a credit card. During a heated family debate (more on that below), she informed Michael that the responsibility to “finance” his planned law school enrollment would fall on him.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, however, Dr. Simone admitted that she’d at least somewhat softened her position.
“We came to an agreement,” the Atlanta-area OB-GYN explained. “He’s going to law school in the fall of 2026. And the agreement we have is that he will take loans for tuition, and I will support him, provided he cuts back on his fabulous, luxurious lifestyle. So, no more spending 60K on a credit card.”
Either way, Simone did not enjoy reliving their intense discussion when it aired on Married to Medicine.
“That was a really painful moment to watch back,” she added. “I knew that he was spoiled, he was entitled, but seeing how entitled he really is, I wanted to choke him out.”
Inside Dr. Simone Whitmore’s debate about her son Michael’s finances
Amidst a surprise family meal that Michael and Miles, 26, threw together for her and Cecil Whitmore on Married to Med‘s Dec. 14 episode, Dr. Simone brought up her younger son’s “financial situation” and asked how he planned to pay for law school.
“I do have a mother who makes pretty good money,” he answered, to which Simone responded, “I don’t feel like I should be footing the bill for anything other than the roof over your head, that sort of a thing … The only one here at the table with an actual graduate doctorate degree is me. And how I did it was I got scholarship money and loans.”
Michael, meanwhile, countered, “Your mom was not able to do the things for you that you’re able to do for us. What about all the rich white kids? Their parents pay for their way to do everything, and they get out of college debt-free and are millionaires.”
His comment didn’t sit well with Dr. Simone, who shot back, “Who here at the table gives a f–k about how hard I’m working, instead of being able to move towards retirement?”
Once Michael declared that he was “done talking about this,” she became even more frustrated and eventually stormed away from the family table.
“The bottom line is you are so f–kin’ entitled,” Simone shouted at Michael as she walked off. “I’m done! I don’t owe you a motherf–king thing from here … I’ve given you everything I have to give!”

Why Dr. Simone and Cecil Whitmore disagreed on funding their son’s education
In an unexpected turn of events, Cecil actually sided with their son in the argument.
“Michael’s point is still a valid one,” he chimed in. “We are blessed. We are in a situation where we can help …Â He said that he thinks every day about what he can do to be able to give back to you.”
As the conversation continued, Dr. Simone vented that “it’s always three against one” in their household, with her being the “lone man out.”
“If I’m dead before he finishes law school, then what?” she fired back at Cecil’s claim that Michael would repay her someday. “You can’t speak for me ’cause you don’t think like me.”
