A Pennsylvania doctor accused of sexually assaulting vulnerable women has allegedly spent years preying on addicts under his care and other sickening acts, including a bedside puppet show with a woman’s corpse — moments after pronouncing her dead — where he moved their jaw up and down and told nurses, “Hi there, how are you?”
Christopher Davis, 63, of York, was recently arrested for allegedly using his position as an addiction treatment specialist to lure and coerce women into sexual encounters, according to Pennsylvania’s Office of Attorney General.
One female patient told a grand jury last month that Davis kissed her and shoved his tongue down her throat during a 2023 visit before whispering a chilling message into her ear, according to the York Dispatch, citing Davis’ indictment.
“The broken ones are the easiest,” he allegedly said.
The Pennsylvania AG’s office has charged the disgraced physician with 92 criminal counts for allegedly tormenting patients from 2021 to 2024. His charges include rape by threat of force, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, sexual extortion, illegal use of a communications device, illegal administration of a controlled substance and furnishing false or fraudulent information.
A license suspension for Davis from 2002, which was obtained by the Dispatch and posted online Tuesday, says he underwent substance abuse treatment in the early 2000s and pleaded guilty to stealing the painkiller Nubain. The corpse puppet incident happened while he was the medical director at Manor Care on Dec. 3, 2000, according to state officials.
“[Davis] checked the Patient’s heart and lungs and pronounced her deceased,” the Pennsylvania Department of State reported. “[Davis] informed the Nurses that he had been a ventriloquist. [Davis] then proceeded to place the deceased Patient’s body in a seated position, put his hand on her bottom jaw, and, while manipulating the Patient’s jaw up and down to create the affectation that the deceased Patient was talking, [Davis] said, ‘Hi there, how are you?’ or words to that effect.”
For the recent allegations, authorities say several women reported having sex with Davis and that he “would withhold, or threaten to withhold, treatment benefits from patients who refused his sexual advances, while conversely, prescribing contraindicated addictive medications to patients who acquiesced to his sexual demands,” according to his grand jury indictment. The charges stem from an investigation launched in 2024 while he was working as the medical director of Pyramid Healthcare in Springettsbury Township.
Davis allegedly encouraged women to drink alcohol and abuse medications while he treated them, according to prosecutors. One victim says he even gave her money to purchase and use fentanyl. Another claims he prescribed benzodiazepines, or benzos, to her after she became a patient at his private practice in October 2023 while she was, at the same time, receiving methadone treatment at Pyramid.
“This doctor abused his role as a gatekeeper to necessary medications for vulnerable patients by manipulating, intimidating, and assaulting numerous patients between 2022 and 2024,” said Attorney General Dave Sunday in a statement announcing Davis’ arrest. “The patients relied on the defendant to provide compassionate care and treatment as they navigated a path to recovery, instead, he betrayed them time and time again. People seeking to better their lives through treatment should be celebrated and supported, not preyed upon and exploited.”
Davis is being held at York County Prison on a $1 million bail, according to online court records. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 28.
