Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Cop Son on Leave After Chase That Killed Uninvolved Teen – Crime Online

An Alabama police officer is on administrative leave after a police chase late last week that ended in a deadly crash.

That officer has been identified as Garry Chapman, son of Duane Chapman, also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, WAFF reported.

Tristan Hollis, 17, died in the Saturday night crash which began when Priceville Police chased a suspect, Archie Hale, on Interstate 69 and continued on a small road in Hartselle after Hale left the interstate onto Main Street.

Hale nearly hit two other vehicles before slamming into the vehicle carrying Hollis and three other teens as it crossed the intersection of Main Street and Highway 31 at about 8:30 p.m.

Hale’s car ended up in a ditch, and he was badly injured and hospitalized. One of the other teens in Hollis’s vehicle was in critical condition, and the other two had lesser injuries but were also hospitalized.

Police did not say why they were chasing Hale but said charges against him are expected.

A witness told WAFF he couldn’t imagine what “type of offense that would warrant that type of response on a road that small.”

“That fast of a chase down that small of a road?” said Matthew Moore. “Main Street is like literally two car lengths wide, and to be going that fast down that road, really there’s only one thing that can happen at the end of that, especially getting into a busy intersection.”

Police stressed that placing Chapman on leave was standard procedure after a deadly incident.
