Dr. Heavenly Kimes shared new details about son Damon Kimes Jr.’s 2023 arrest on Married to Medicine.
During a moment in her home with Dr. Damon Kimes from Season 12, Episode 2, Heavenly acknowledged how her running for Georgia State Representative would impact their entire family. That’s why she implored her physician husband to not keep any more secrets from her.
“If I had to learn about my son being arrested on social media, what else is out there?” the mother of three asked her husband, referencing 28-year-old Damon Jr.

“When I first found out the news about Damon Jr. on Twitter, my heart dropped,” Dr. Heavenly further told a producer. “Y’all don’t know the feeling that it would take to see your son being arrested. My son, I love him so much.”
While the spouses, in a joint confessional, debated exactly how long he kept the news of Damon Jr.’s arrest from his wife of 28 years, Dr. Damon remarked, “Well, either way, I did what I did. If anyone has an opinion on it, they can say whatever they want.”
Back in their kitchen, Dr. Damon explained to Heavenly how he knew that their son’s legal issues were something he “could take care of,” prompting the Atlanta-area dentist to respond, “But you didn’t take care of it, in the sense that I’m finding out about it, years later, on social media.”
Why was Dr. Heavenly Kimes’ son Damon Jr. arrested?
Damon Jr. was arrested in February 2023 on the charge of “aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer,” according to court documents that appeared on screen during Married to Medicine‘s Dec. 7 episode.
The legal filing alleged that Damon Jr. “did unlawfully and knowingly commit an aggravated assault” against “a public safety officer employed by Georgia State University Police Department” by “driving his vehicle toward” the peace officer.

During the couple’s discussion, Dr. Heavenly also noted that she was unsure of Damon Jr.’s current whereabouts.
“Why did he leave? Was it something I did, Damon?” she asked. “He won’t come see us. Why is that?”
In a confessional, Heavenly offered more intel on the state of her and Damon. Jr.’s relationship.Â
“When I heard the news, I probably got too angry with my son,” she admitted of Damon Jr. who graduated with a pre-med degree from Georgia State University in 2020. “I don’t remember what I said. It was probably a lot of cussing; a lot of profanity was there. He just got his stuff together and he left the house, and I have physically not seen him in months.”

Afterward, Dr. Damon began saying, “Sometimes things happen that we don’t want to happen,” before she interjected to ask, “Can you make him come home and see his mommy?”
He replied, “No, I can’t; only God can. I don’t know why he feels the way he does, but I’m going to respect it. And when he does come back, I’ll be there and ready to hug him.”
Heavenly concluded their chat by declaring, “I miss him so much, Damon. He’s my sweetheart.”
More recently, she echoed that sentiment in a Dec. 2 Instagram birthday tribute to Damon Jr.
“Happy Birthday to my wonderful baby boy!!” Heavenly captioned her carousel of photos. “Momma loves you more than I could ever say! I’m so proud of you! And so proud to be your mother! May God continue to keep his Heavenly angels all around you to keep you safe! In Jesus’ mighty name!”
