Dr. Heavenly Kimes is sharing major updates on her relationship with her oldest son, Damon Kimes Jr., today. The Married to Medicine cast member has been so open about her struggles in her relationship with her son throughout Season 12, but recently revealed that they’re in a good place.
Dr. Heavenly spoke with The Daily Dish in January, where she opened up about how her son is doing and how hard it has been for her to share their story on Married to Medicine. “That’s a very difficult thing to talk about,” she said. “It came out on social media. It’s been very challenging. Even to talk about it now is challenging.”
“But I’ll tell you one thing, it’s a testimony that my son is here,” she continued. “He’s alive. Things could have went very different for him based on what he did. So I thank God every day that my son is alive and that he’s well.”
What happened with Dr. Heavenly Kimes and her son, Damon Kimes Jr.?
During Married to Medicine Season 12, Episode 2, Dr. Heavenly admitted that she had a falling out with Damon Jr. after learning about his 2023 arrest from social media. “When I heard the news, I probably got too angry with my son,” she explained during the episode. “I don’t remember what I said. It was probably a lot of cussing; a lot of profanity was there. He just got his stuff together and he left the house, and I have not physically seen him in months.”

Dr. Heavenly continued to talk about her differences in parenting with her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, in her interview with The Daily Dish. “With my kids, me and my husband, have a constant struggle on how to parent,” she explained.

“We have a unified front, but he’s softer on the kids if you will, and I’m the mean guy,” she added. “I’m the guy that’s going to be the more disciplinarian…I think one thing that we do have [is] a very solid relationship that we based on love. No matter how many issues we have, we have to go back to that love for our family.”
Dr. Heavenly appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday, Jan. 25, where she admitted that she and her husband do have different outlooks on how they parent their three kids, even when it comes to Damon Jr., with whom she has a great relationship. “I talk to him every day, FaceTime,” she told WWHL host Andy Cohen. “He no longer lives in the state. But his dad and I argue, because we parent very differently.”
“He spends the money on the kids, and I try to say ‘No,'” she noted of her husband.

Heavenly Kimes shares her hopes for her son’s future
Heavenly continued, sharing her hopes for her son’s future this year. “My hopes for the future, is that whatever he has to prove to himself, that he does that and he moves forward,” she revealed to The Daily Dish. “And we come together as a family, tight-knit, as we’ve always been.”
