STAMFORD, Conn. (TCN) — A decomposed body was discovered inside a home after a standoff with police ended in the homeowner’s suicide.
On Dec. 2, a state marshal arrived at the home of Jed Parkington, 63, to evict him for failing to pay the mortgage, CBS News reports. Parkington, who was wearing military attire with a Nazi insignia on the collar, allegedly pushed his wife outside and told the marshal “Take her someplace safe. This is not going to end well.”
In a conversation with a hostage negotiator released by authorities and obtained by CBS, Parkington discussed how long he had been looking for housing and spoke out against being evicted without shelter. He also claimed his wife knew nothing.
When officers arrived in an armored truck, Parkington allegedly opened fire on it with an AK-47. A drone was also used during the standoff and Parkington allegedly fired at it as well.
Drone footage showed the home’s upstairs windows barricaded with cinderblocks.
Parkington fatally shot himself later that day, according to CBS.
When officers entered the home, they found Nazi paraphernalia, such as a swastika flag, as well as pipe bombs and the decomposed body of a handcuffed man, CBS reports. The man’s manner of death was determined to be homicide, according to the medical examiner. He reportedly died from blunt impact injuries to the head and torso with gagging.
The deceased man was identified as Carmine Boccuzzi, 79, according to CBS. He had rented a room from Parkington and was listed on the eviction papers.
