Escaped Teen Murder Suspect Recaptured in Philadelphia – Crime Online

A 17-year-old escaped murder suspect — who has been in jail since he was 14 awaiting trial — is back in custody.

US Marshals toodk Shane Pryor into custody at 3rd and the Boulevard in Philadelphia on Sunday, WCAU reported.

Pryor escaped from custody on Wednesday when he was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for a hand injury, as CrimeOnline reported.

Pryor was charged as an adult with murder in 2020, and a judge last month denied his attorney’s request to move the trial back to juvenile court.

He escaped custody at the hospital just before noon on Wednesday and was seen on surveillance video, still at the hospital, five minutes later.

He was not in handcuffs or shackles when he escaped, accordiing to Philadelphia police, who said he was a dangerous criminal.

WCAU attempted to learn why Pryor’s trial was taking so long — he’s been waiting 3 1/2 years, longer than the just over 2 years homicide cases took during the pandemic era — but Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said it was nothing unusual.

Pryor has had five different defense attorneys, including having the judge hearing his case replace his fourth attorney with a fifth just before ruling against moving the trial to juvenile court.
