A missing New York man was found dead on his own property this week, and at least one member of his family has been charged in his death.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says it was initially told last week that Roger Pitt had packed his belongings in his car and driven away.
“The initial reports made by members of Mr. Pitt’s family were not consistent with the findings of investigators and resulted in the execution of several search warrants during which the remains of Roger Pitt were found on his property,” the sheriff’s office said Wednesday morning in a statement.
Rodney Pitt, 46, and Drew White, 23, have been arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy, tampering with evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. Tania Pitt, 43, was charged with tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy.
Rodney Pitt and White were both jailed with no bail, while Tania Pitt was released with an order to appear at a later date.
Rodney Pitt is the son of the murdered man, the Albany Times-Union reported. It’s not clear how the other two are connected, other than Tania Pitt having the same last name.
