Family Turns in Georgia Man on His Way to Atlanta Airport to ‘Shoot It Up’ – Crime Online

A Georgia man was arrested Monday morning at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after family members told police he had been livestreaming on social media and said he planned to go to the airport and “shoot it up.”

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said Billy Joe Cagle, 49, was arrested inside the airport, although he was not armed at the time, WANF reported. Police did find an AR-15 in his pickup truck parked outside the airport.

Cagle’s family contacted Cartersville police at about 9:40 a.m., and they in turn contacted Atlanta police, who located Cagle minutes later.

Police said Cagle entered the airport at 9:31 a.m. and was arrested at 9:54 a.m., less than 15 minutes after they were notified of the threats, WAGA reported.

Schierbaum said that investigators believe Cagle had gone inside to case the facility before returned to his truck for his gun. He was “likely to use that weapon in the crowded terminal he had just seen,” the chief said.

Cagle was charged with terroristic threats, criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
