Father and daughter killed in alleged road-rage shooting in Phoenix parking lot

PHOENIX (TCN) — A road-rage shooting following a parking lot altercation in Phoenix left a man and his 8-year-old daughter dead and two others severely injured.

The Phoenix Police Department announced that the suspect was identified as 28-year-old Tyrone Dee Chilly. He was arrested at the scene on Nov. 22. He was hospitalized for reasons unrelated to the shooting, according to Arizona’s Family.

He was booked into jail on Nov. 23, having been charged with two counts of murder and multiple charges of aggravated assault and endangerment, according to police.

Arizona’s Family reports that officers responded to a call regarding a shooting in a Lowe’s parking lot. Witnesses say that an altercation escalated to a physical fight between the drivers of two vehicles. They reportedly went their separate ways, and then Chilly allegedly returned to his car for a gun and began shooting into the SUV belonging to 30-year-old Quincy Polk and his family. Multiple shots were fired, striking Polk, his fiancée Alexis Cardenas, and two of his daughters, Nay’vi Blu Polk, 5, and Envy Cardenas, 8. The family’s 1-year-old daughter Alani was not harmed.

Witnesses report that Alexis fired her own weapon at Chilly at some point during the altercation, according to police. Both Quincy and Envy died from gunshot wounds, and Alexis and Nay’vi are hospitalized, according to police.

Court documents obtained by KSAZ state that the altercation followed a tailgating incident, and that Chilly allegedly told police he was unaware there were children inside the vehicle when he began firing.

The investigation is ongoing.
