Father Pleads for Missing SC Daughter’s Boyfriend to Come Clean After Kidnapping Arrest – Crime Online

The father of a missing South Carolina woman is pleading for answers after her boyfriend was arrested for her disappearance.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 34-year-old Daniel Gabriel Harmon has been arrested and charged with domestic violence and kidnapping in connection with Jamilla Smith, identified as his girlfriend.

Both Harmon and Smith were reported missing on December 3 by family members. On December 5, police arrested Harmon at a home off Carpentersville Road in Augusta, near U.S. Highway 1. Aiken Standard reports that police took him into custody after an “hourslong standoff.”

Following the standoff, Harmon was treated for injuries at an area hospital and then booked at the  Aiken County detention center. He currently has no bond. Court documents indicate that he has a history of mental health and domestic violence issues.

“Daniel, please if you know anything stop wasting time, [it’s] is all we got right now,” Smith’s father told ABC 13. “It’s hard every day I see you, but I do not see my daughter. I get the call [sic] you don’t know how bad this hurts me, and then it happens the day after my birthday. I need to see my baby.”

The warrant for Harmon’s arrest alleged that on November 10, Harmon strangled Smith in front of a child. A 911 call captured her screaming, while a man in the background was heard yelling at her to get inside a car.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that a warrant revealed Smith had injuries around her neck following the incident and “an obstructed airway.”

Meanwhile, Smith remains missing. Her last contact with family members was on December 2, when she told her mother Harmon was being aggressive toward her.

“She called me from his phone around three and she said Daniel threw my phone out the window on I-20,” Tina McCraw, Smith’s mother, told News Channel 6.

Smith’s friend, Brittany, says that domestic issues were a common occurrence between the pair, with Smith calling her upset, following arguments.

“We have committed all available resources into finding Jamilla,” Captain Eric Abdullah with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said. “It’s our greatest hope that we can obtain any information that would lead to her location.”

Smith is described as a Black female who stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 107 pounds.

Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts should contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at 803-648-6811 or submit an online tip at aikencountysheriff.net.
