Firefighter-Paramedic Kills Himself After Critically Injuring Ex-Wife, Killing Her Boyfriend – Crime Online

A California firefighter and paramedic wanted for stabbing his ex-wife and killing her boyfriend Thursday morning was found dead hours later in Mendocino County.

Sources told KGO that Jason Gillenwater, 46, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police had been tracking Gillenwater since 8 a.m., when he stabbed his ex-wife and her boyfriend at her home in Pacifica. Pacifica Police said the boyfriend was pronounced dead on the scene, while Gillenwater’s ex-wife was taken to the hospital.

A nearby elementary school was put on lockdown while officers began the search for the suspect.

The California Highway Patrol told KNTV that Gillenwater shot himself during a confrontation with police in Ukiah.

KGO said that Gillenwater had been suspended from his paramedic duties in Colma last week after he was arrested for a domestic violence incident at his ex-wife’s home.

Pacifica Police said that the domestic violence incident took place on December 14, and Gillenwater was arrested but posted bail and was released. Police officers obtained a gun violence emergency protective order and seized firearms and ammunition and also an emergency protective order that barred Gillenwater from contacting his ex-wife or coming within 100 yards of the home.

They said that Gillenwater obtained the firearm he used to kill himself after the stabbing Thursday morning.

The names of Gillenwater’s victims have not been released.
