BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) — A 27-year-old man now faces charges of child abuse and murder in connection with the 2021 death of his infant son.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, on June 1, 2021, deputies responded to a home in Merritt Island, where the 2-month-old baby was found dead. The child was transported to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office, and an autopsy revealed he died of multiple blunt-impact head injuries.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities identified the victim’s father, Donovan Winter, as the primary suspect. He was arrested on June 17 and faces charges of felony murder and aggravated child abuse. Winter remains held in the Brevard County Jail without bond.
