
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (TCN) — A victim and a suspect were both arrested after an argument turned physical and ended with a man losing a thumb to a machete attack.
In the early morning hours of Dec. 13, 42-year-old Carlos Hernandez Nicolas and Jose Turcios Garcia, 38, began to argue during a gathering at Nicolas’ home, WDUN reports.
The fight became physical, and Hernandez Nicolas allegedly attacked Turcios Garcia with a machete. Turcios Garcia was transported to a hospital and treated for multiple injuries, including an amputated left thumb, according to WDUN.
During the investigation, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office found the machete at the scene, WSB-TV reports.
Hernandez Garcia was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault, WGTJ Radio reports. He is being held without bond. Turcios Garcia was taken into custody for failure to appear after he was released from the hospital. In addition, both men are under immigration holds.
