HUDSON, Fla. (TCN) — A man allegedly killed and ate his pet peacocks over a disagreement with his neighbor.
Per an affidavit from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, a neighbor told authorities she had been in a verbal dispute with Craig Vogt regarding his pet peacocks. Vogt allegedly put a letter in her mailbox “stating he killed two of his pet peacocks because she continued feeding them.”
Vogt reportedly admitted to placing the letter in the mailbox to “prove a point that he will continue to kill his pet peacocks if she continues to feed them.” He also allegedly confessed to killing two birds and eating them. Authorities allege he cut the pets’ necks with a knife, bled them out, and cooked them in a frying pan before eating them.
According to the sheriff’s office, as he was being transported to jail, Vogt said he would kill all his pet peacocks upon his release “to prevent anyone from taking custody of them.”
Vogt was arrested on a charge of aggravated animal cruelty.
