Florida Man Formally Charged With Murder of Estranged Wife, Found Shot Dead in His Storage Unit – Crime Online

Prosecutors on Friday formally filed murder charges against a man whose estranged wife was found dead last month in his storage unit.

Shakeira Rucker, a 37-year-old mom of four, was last seen at a Polk County restaurant on November 11 with Cory Hill, who was arrested the next day after he alleged shot at an ex-girlfriend and her family, as CrimeOnline reported.

Orange County deputies responded to a call about a strong odor coming from a storage unit registered to Hill in Apopka on November 21 and found Rucker’s body. She had been shot to death.

The Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit filed a second degree murder charge (with a firearm) against Hill, which the office said “guarantees the defendant will be held without bond while we continue building our case for a potential First Degree Murder indictment in Rucker’s homicide.”

The office said “procedural rules” limit prosecutors to the second degree murder charge before presenting the case to a grand jury.

Hill was already being held without bond on attempted murder and other charges after his November 12 arrest. Angel Milligan said Hill came to her home and started shooting, but no one was hurt. Milligan said she dated Hill for a time but broke up with him in September when she learned he was married to Rucker.

Hill was previously convicted of murder in 1993 and sentenced to 20 years in prison — a conviction Rucker’s family said they knew nothing about until after her disappearance.
