BAREFOOT BAY, Fla. (TCD) — A 49-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly fatally stabbing her 69-year-old mother this week.
On Tuesday, Jan. 9, shortly after 5 a.m., deputies with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in reference to an injured woman. Inside, authorities found Cheryl Meurer suffering from multiple stab wounds, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, based on collected evidence and interviews, investigators believe the victim and her daughter, Kelly Tinsley, got into a physical altercation on the night of Jan. 8. During the fight, Tinsley allegedly stabbed her mother to death.
A judge issued an arrest warrant for Tinsley, charging her with manslaughter reclassified with the use of a weapon. The sheriff’s office apprehended Tinsley and booked her into the Brevard County Jail, where she remains without bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
