ASCENSION PARISH, La. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a 33-year-old former deputy on suspicion of accessing his ex-girlfriend’s home surveillance cameras and watching her.
According to a news release posted by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, an Ascension Parish resident reported the allegations against her former boyfriend, Mihn Ngo, on Sept. 11. Ngo had reportedly helped install the cameras while he and the victim were still together.
Allegedly, Ngo accessed the cameras on a regular basis for the past several months. He was arrested on Sept. 16 and faces charges of video voyeurism, computer tampering, and stalking.
Ngo, who was a deputy with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, was terminated at the time of his arrest.
In a statement, Sheriff Gary Driskell said, “The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office exists to uphold the law, and no one is above the law, not even those who wear our badge. While it is never easy to arrest one of our own, it is necessary in order to maintain the trust of the citizens we serve. We will continue to hold ourselves to the highest standards of accountability and integrity.”
