South Carolina authorities confirmed that a missing woman’s body was discovered in a suitcase on Wednesday.
Victoria Jean Beach, 32, was reported missing on Wednesday. The same day, Walterboro police were interviewing people known to Beach when they smelled a foul odor that led to her body in an abandoned home, according to WCSC.
Beach’s body was reportedly decomposing in a suitcase. Walterboro police Sergeant Tavara Edward told Fits News that an autopsy determined Beach was not stabbed or shot, but it did not rule out strangulation due to the state of her remains.
While Edwards told Fits News that nobody was reported missing before Beach was found, police said the exact opposite in a statement issued to The Press and Standard.
According to WCIV, Beach had not been seen for nearly a month before she was reported missing.
Fits News reported that Beach had been arrested eight times since 2020 for crimes including possession of methamphetamine and public disorderly conduct.
No arrests have been made in connection with Beach’s death.
