Fourth Body Found in City’s Bayou in 2 Weeks, Sparking More Serial Killer Claims – Crime Online

A body found in a Texas city’s bayou marks the first one this year — but the fourth recovered in two weeks.

KPRC reported that the latest body was located at Buffalo Bayou in Houston. Police Lieutenant Larry Crowson said a cleaning crew was doing maintenance in the area when they spotted the body, which appears to be a man.

The man’s cause of death remains under investigation.

Last year, at least 34 people were found dead in Houston’s bayous. In 2024, 35 people were discovered in local waterways. In one such case, police sought the public’s help in identifying a man found in Buffalo Bayou on Christmas Eve. His cause of death remains a mystery, but police released images of his tattoos in hopes of identifying him, KRIV reported.

In September, five people, including University of Houston student Jade McKissic, 20, were discovered deceased in Houston bayous. Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences classified the deaths of Mikissic, Rodney Chatman, Seth Hansen, and Michael Rice as undetermined.

In September, officials denied speculation that the deaths were the work of a serial killer. They also claimed there was no indication that any of the deaths were the result of foul play. They attributed many of these deaths to the city’s issues with substance abuse, mental health, and homelessness.

However, the Houston Chronicle noted that 68 of these bayou cases are listed as undetermined — meaning there is limited evidence surrounding their deaths.

Anyone with information regarding the Christmas Eve case should call the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences at their main number 832-927-5000 or their forensic investigations department at 832-927-5001.
