‘Frustrated’ Mom Hits Crying 2-Month-Old Daughter in Head With Steel Mug, Killing Her – Crime Online

A South Carolina mother was charged with murder on Tuesday in connection with October’s death of her 2-month-old daughter.

Jordan Fowler’s daughter died on October 15 at their Belvedere home. Aiken County police said at the time that Fowler squeezed and shook her daughter — but a recent arrest warrant stated that she hit her daughter in the back of the head with a stainless steel vacuum-insulated travel mug because she was frustrated with her repeated cries, WRDW reported.

Deputies who responded to the home at the time of the infant’s death found her grandmother performing CPR. Deputies also noted she was cold to the touch, according to WRDW.

Fowler allegedly told police in October that her daughter was sleeping in her crib when she took a nap on the couch. She claimed she woke up to find her daughter unresponsive, the news outlet also reported.

Before the upgraded charges, an autopsy determined the 2-month-old had rib fractures and other injuries that were in various stages of healing. Officials at the time believed Fowler had abused her daughter between August 20 and October 15, which is the day she died, according to WBJF.

Fowler was charged in December with unlawful neglect of a child. On Tuesday, she was charged with murder/homicide by child abuse and aiding and abetting.

The Post and Courier reported that Fowler remains jailed without bond.
