For Garcelle Beauvais, delivering a fierce runway walk is like riding a bike. Need proof? Then look no further than her recent modeling gig at New York Fashion Week, where she strutted down the catwalk in a chic long bob.
“New York Fashion Week, but make it Haitian,” she captioned the February 17 carousel.
The opening slide showed The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum gliding down the runway in a handmade velvet gown by Jovana Benoit, the creative director/founder of womenswear brand Jovana Louis.
“So proud to support and close the show for [Jovana of Jovana Louis],” Garcelle added. “Her designs are nothing short of extraordinary. The way she brings beauty, strength, and intention into every piece is truly inspiring. Wearing her creation feels like wearing art.”

Jovana reflected on Garcelle’s casting in a February 18 Instagram post, explaining why Garcelle was the perfect model to close the show.
“We are deeply inspired by her strength and resilience,” the designer wrote about the former Housewife. “She has always stayed true to herself, no matter what, holding her head high and never forgetting her roots. She continues to inspire so many — especially the Haitian community — as an actress, model, and now movie producer… She perfectly embodies the spirit of our Old Hollywood film theme and the essence of our Frame by Frame collection.”
Garcelle Beauvais shares the origins of her modeling career
As Jovana noted, Garcelle is no stranger to the modeling world. At the age of 17, the multihyphenate moved to New York City to pursue a career in the fashion world, eventually signing with Ford Models. She went on to work for industry heavy-hitters, like Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, and appeared in numerous magazines, including Essence, Ebony, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue Italia.

Garcelle spoke about her modeling days in a 2015 interview with Tokyo Journal, recalling how she got her foot in the door.
“I knew the lead girl in a Black is Beautiful commercial, and I decided to drive to Fort Lauderdale without an appointment and see if the agency she was with would consider representing me,” she said. “As I was driving, I stopped at a red light and put on lipstick while looking out the window at the mirror. Then this hand came in the car and startled me. It was the person who had stopped behind me, and by chance, she was the owner of the agency that I was on my way to see without an appointment. So, it was sort of kismet. I modeled with them for about a year in Miami, and then I moved to New York.”
